Two ways to give Audible as a gift
According to Audible, there are two options. Both run through the Gift Center on audible.de:
- Gift membership: Terms of 1, 3, 6 and 12 months are available, and each month includes one credit. According to Audible, the gift membership does not renew automatically. Recipients choose one title from the full catalog each month and keep it. According to Audible, the catalog includes audiobooks, children's audio plays, Original Podcasts and Audible Originals.
- Single audiobook: According to Audible, most titles have the button “Als Geschenk verschenken” (“Give as a gift”). This way you give one specific title.
Important: According to Audible, gifts purchased on Audible.de can only be redeemed by customers in Germany. So check where the recipient lives. You will find everything else in the Audible Gift Center.
Last-minute: what to clarify before December 24
A digital gift saves shipping time, but a short check is still worthwhile so that it really works on Christmas Eve:
- Delivery and redemption: How and when the gift reaches the recipient is explained in the Audible Gift Center. Read it before you buy on the last day. We cannot guarantee a delivery time.
- Place of residence: According to Audible, the recipient must redeem the gift as a customer in Germany.
- Playback device: According to Amazon, Audible audiobooks can be played in the Audible app as well as on Alexa, Fire tablets, Fire TV or e-readers. A smartphone or tablet is usually enough to get started.
- Do you know their taste? If you know their taste well, a single title fits. If you are unsure, the gift membership is more flexible, because the person chooses for themselves.

Try Audible yourself first
If you want to know how Audible works, you can try it yourself as a new customer. According to Amazon, new customers get one audiobook of their choice for free during the trial month. According to Amazon, Amazon Prime members who are new Audible customers can try Audible for 60 days and receive two audiobooks. After that, the regular membership starts automatically and can be cancelled at any time. Only new customers can sign up for the trial membership, for themselves; it is not a gift. Make a note of when the trial month ends if you do not want to continue.
